Genoeg redenen voor Stichting Literaire Activiteiten Amsterdam om hem op 12 mei uit te nodigen voor een programma in de fonkelnieuwe Tolhuistuin. Schrijver en journalist Joost de Vries zal Edward St Aubyn deze avond interviewen en vertaalster Nicolette Hoekmeijer spreekt over zijn werk en nieuwe boek.

In his latest novel, Lost for Words, St Aubyn mocks the literary world. The story concentrates upon the vicissitudes surrounding the acknowledgement of an important literary award. The reader follows the politician who only accepts the jury presidency because he believes it will benefit his career; the various writers and editors who all sleep with the same promising female writer, who regularly trades them in for new suitors; the TV presenter who struggles to read the nominated titles while writing a thriller; the literary scholar who attempts to reconcile with her anorectic daughter; and the writing Indian maharadja who believes his masterpiece will win the award: St Aubyn describes the whole charade without mercy.

This is reason enough for SLAA (Amsterdam Foundation for Literary Activities) to invite Edward St Aubyn as their guest in the brand new Tolhuistuin. Writer and journalist Joost de Vries will interview St Aubyn, translator Nicolette Hoekmeijer will talk about St Aubyn’s work and latest novel.
